Bands Of Watches

The variations in watch bands extend beyond the material from which they are made. Other variations include width, color, and type of release.

There are three types of releases for watch bands. They are regular release, pin lever release and screw release. Let's look at each.

With regular release watch bands the lever for the release is inside the strap of the watch. The wearer must insert the tip of the watch's spring bar tool between the lever slots. The strap is then released by the push of the lever towards the watch strap and then it can be released. The wearer must be careful at this point to not lose the watch pin. Replacing the watch strap is accomplished by the insertion of one of the watch lever into the appropriate hold. The wearer uses the tool to hold the watch lever, and then press it into the opposite hole.

Watch bands with a pin lever work by turning the watch around and finding the pin lever mechanism on the back of the watch strip. The wearer must push the watch pin lever inward at this point and then release it from the watch case carefully.

Screw Release watch bands work by positioning a screw driver in the head of the watch and loosening it. The wearer may find she or he will need a second screw driver to secure the new watch bands. Once the watch head is loosened, the wearer should remove its screw release. Now the strap can be changed.

The material choices for watch bands are leather, Velcro, metal or nylon. While the choices of metal vary the overwhelmingly prominent and popular are the stainless steel watch bands, because of their resistance to corrosion and durability.

Leather watch bands come in several colors and 15 different widths from 6 to 20 mm. You might choose black or brown leather, alligator grain, genuine lizard, buffalo, sharkskin, coach leather, crocodile grain, genuine ostrich in a honey color, lizard grain in Havana or brown, reptile grain or smooth.

Velcro watch bands are highly serviceable for waterproof watches because they clasp and release easily and dry quickly without rusting or marking your skin.

Metal watch bands offer the most variety. One of the classiest examples of metal watch bands is the two tone Rolex Jubilee. One of the most popular of metal bracelets, these watch bands have five links in the width, with gold tone and their center and silver tone on the outside. The center buckle that folds over is silver tones, while the ends of these watch bands are made to fit openings from 16-21 mms. These watch bands, therefore, can fit many watches.
