Skagen Roots Grow Skagen Watches
Skagen watches began in Scandinavia, where Jutland, at the northern tip of the peninsula, turns east and meets the sea. Here the picturesque little town of Skagen became the namesake of these great watches.
Skagen is quaint, the home of avid fishers and constantly warring with the ravages of the sea. It has many miles of sandy beaches, white and pristine. It serves often as the home to visiting artists.
The parent company of Skagen watches, Skagen design began here and takes its name from this lovely spot of Denmark.
Charlotte and Henrik Jorst emigrated to the United States from Denmark, their birthplace, in 1987 to bring their Skagen Designs dream to fruition. They believed that they could create high quality Skagen watches and other merchandise, design them beautifully and still offer them at a reasonable price.
Skagen Designs' collections include, besides Skagen watches, Skagen pens, clocks and sunglasses. They have clean and elegant designs that show technical expertise and skilled crafting.
You can also find a number of garden and other gourmet items that have been designed by well known Danish artists and crafters.
In April of 2005 this innovative designer of superb Skagen watches announced the grand opening of its new Reno Nevada office and plant. The plant was designed by Danish architects, with a showroom that measures a massive 2700 square feet, and serves as a reflection of the picturesque Skagen Denmark, the resort town that inspires all Skagen watches and other Skagen products.
The showroom is open, with displays of seascapes such as glass walls and sand dunes. The custom designed door entry way takes you to a gallery of Skagen watches displayed artfully. There are three roomy conference rooms as well as an elegant lounge designed for comfort, with landscape that is always mindful of its sleepy town origins. Every part of this new Nevada interior centers around a raised retail showroom designed on a shop in shop concept that enables Skagin clients to look at Skagen watches and other items.
A decade ago was the first time Skagen watches were marketed in New York City. This began from a Morgan Hotel suite. As Skagen watches acclaim grew, the need for this state of the art conference and gallery, with visual stimulation, became apparent. It seemed as though it would be the best answer for the creation of new opportunities for business.
The display of Skagen watches and the other accoutrements of the new Skagen headquarters are the latest in a long line of marketing techniques that work.
